This morning we were reading an email from Gary Vaynerchuk
Whether you love him or hate him he usually has a significant message to share
Today's was no exception
It as entitled "ADAPT or Get Left Behind"
He goes on to say...
The minute you unlock your ability to always adapt is the minute you figure out how the world works. The reality is that things always change...and people ALWAYS adjust.
There was a time when it was “crazy” to date online...or get in cars with strangers...or enter your credit card information into a computer.
Now, lots of people think it’s “crazy” to spend money on digital art and NFTs
But what was crazy yesterday is commonplace today.
The people who waste time complaining or resisting these shifts are only guaranteeing that they’ll be late to the party.
The world is not waiting for you to come around. It doesn’t care about your feelings - you either get on board or you get left behind
It got us thinking about retirement
Back in the ‘stone age’ as our kids often say - your retirement was your life after work at 60 pottering in the garden, taking it easy, a holiday once or twice a year and an income from a contributory and/or state pension scheme
Nowadays it’s a very different picture...
Especially if like us you were self employed
The retirement you pictured back when you were working all hours God sends, making enough to pay the bills and bringing up a family is very likely a dream of the distant past
Sorry but that’s the truth for the majority of the population retiring now and it’s not going to get any better for those following on behind unless you adapt...
