Some of you may know that we have a vacation rental business as well as a ski chalet business that's part of our retirement plan...
Obviously both were hit hard during the past year when the pandemic put an end to travel for everyone
But now as the vaccination program rolls out around the world we're starting to get vacation enquiries for the summer (our apartment is in Spain on the Costa del Sol) as well as for winter skiing holidays in the French Alps
It reminds us of that quote by Jim Rohn
"I find it fascinating that most people plan their vacations with better care than their lives"
The few weeks holiday are precious to anyone who works for a boss
And we remember it well
Even when we took a well earned holiday our clients would ring us on the mobile phone asking about something or other
Our time was totally controlled by our clients as was our income
Money is one of the primary reasons people have a job that they don’t like but which they spend most of their waking hours at...
While the things they really love in life sit on the side lines waiting for them to finish working
We absolutely identify with that because it was us!
Our management consultancy business whilst it earned us a good income was at a point where we couldn't earn any more because we had no more time to give to it (we were already working 6-7 days a week 10-12 hours a day)
Retirement was on the horizon and we wanted out of the rat race
It's why we turned to the internet to start an online business
It really is a lot easier than you probably think
There are people in their 60's, 70's and even 80's with successful online businesses so no matter what age you are and what level of experience you have with computers and the internet you can do this to...
And the truth is that many of us reaching that age of retirement find that we simply don't have enough money to do the things that we want to do
Yesterday for instance on our podcast we interviewed Arthur who we met on social media whose story inspired us
An architect approaching retirement he realised that if he didn't pursue his dream then like us he would be working in his business until the day he died
He sold up everything and he and his wife Anna bought a yacht and set sail for new adventures
We caught up with him in Auckland, North Island New Zealand and asked him to share his story
Like us he knew he would need an additional source of income to support his retirement lifestyle so he started an online affiliate marketing business and hasn't looked back
Everyone can benefit from a new income source and it's not expensive to get started with an online business especially compared to a conventional brick and mortar type business
You don't need to employ staff or make huge investments in stock or business premises
There are different business models that you can follow but the simplest is affiliate marketing because you can run your business from anywhere in the world with an internet connection
