That means you are doing exactly what you want to do, working the job that you want to work, travelling when you want to travel, and generally being happy with your current situation
Does this sound like your life?
If you aren’t living a life beyond your wildest dreams, we want you to ask that question again:
Am I in control of my own life?
Now that question’s meaning is probably starting to change a little bit in your mind. Reality may be starting to sneak in. Some doubt may be emerging...
You may have changed that answer from a definitive “Yes” to an unsure “Maybe.”
If you answered,“No” straight out of the gate, that’s great!
It’s not great that you aren’t in control of your life; it’s great that you’re being honest.
You’re telling it like it is. You’ve taken a quick inventory, discovered that you aren’t happy with your life, and that someone else may be pulling the strings.
While we're happy that you understand this, it’s not a great place to be.
Ask yourself this question every day until you know honestly that you are in control of your own life.
This may take weeks, months, even years! The important thing here, though, is that you are aware of who is pulling the strings, and whether you are living your life or someone else is living it for you.
They are living your life while you’re sitting in the backseat, tagging along for the ride. There could be a variety of different people at the steering wheel, some that you may like, others that you may not.
Your family may be driving you around, or it could be your friends, people on social media, society’s standards, your cultural standards...
Anyone might be at the wheel! If it isn’t YOU, though, you aren’t in control of where you are going.
You can complain about the direction of your life all you want, but until you sit in the driver’s seat and begin to drive yourself, you aren’t going to get where you want to go!
YOU need to take control of your own life.
You need to find out what you are living for, and you need to get out and do it. You can’t listen to what other people want from you and you can’t allow them to decide what kind of life you’re going to live.
Even if they have your best interests in mind, they aren’t you, and they don’t know what will make you happy.
YOU probably don’t even know what makes you happy! Not yet at least...
Where does your dream life truly come from?
It comes from the heart.
More specifically, it comes from listening to your heart. In order to live the life you were always meant to live, you need to dig deep inside
You need to be honest with yourself, and you need to find out what your heart really wants
Your heart is an amazing guide because it isn’t influenced by outside forces. It doesn’t care what the “logical” decision is, and it doesn’t care what your current influencers have to say about the life that you are “supposed” to live
Your heart is connected to your purpose.
It has a direct line with something more powerful
Your heart knows why you are here, and it breaks when you don’t live in line with the life that you are supposed to be living.
That’s why you get so sad when you think about how other people are living their dreams and living the lives that they want to live, but you aren’t.
It’s because your heart knows what you are supposed to be doing, and you aren’t listening to it.
Now we would like to say that we wrote these words but we didn't
They belong to the incredible Les Brown
Someone who we are connected to and whose words we read and listen to
We thought we would connect you to him in this email as we close out the week
We've seen so many changes this year with the pandemic and so many businesses hurt so badly (including ours) but we have to remain positive and not make poor choices
