Hi Chris and Susan here...
We hope you enjoyed reading Jill's story yesterday
Like us she started a new career in "retirement"
And if you recall we mentioned that we would share with you today our interview with Robert Laura
He didn't start out as a "retirement expert"
His background was in social work and he transitioned into the word of financial advice and as a result realised so many different elements of retirement to be considered from the requirement for money to just having friendships and meeting new people.
The quote of Robert's that we remember and which has stuck with us throughout our "new career" is this
"I believe the concept of starting a business for retirement income will become one of the most significant trends impacting retirement in the 21st Century...
But it has to start with redefining entrepreneurship and framing it into a retirement lifestyle.
That means helping people find ways to turn a passion, hobby or personal desire into extra money in their pocket... not to mention helping people see the importance of planning for the non-financial aspects of retirement such as replacing a work identity, staying relevant and conected, as well as keeping mentally and physically fit..."
Align your choice of business with what you believe in is the message here and regardless of whether you are of that 'certain age' we talk about here or much younger the same thing applies
Doing something "just for the money" because you are desperate is not going to be sustainable longer term
Trust us we see so much rubbish being pushed out right now and its just horrible (at least our inbox is shrinking!)
But we won't get on that soap box today...
Just check in and listen to what Robert has to say and message us back with your thoughts or if you want to chat further we can book one of our complimentary coffee or cocktails calls
