Welcome to our weekly newsletter from the French Alps

We've just spent a week here having some down time and preparing our chalet for it's new owners

Funny how things turn out isn't it

We had a dream back in 1990 of owning a a property in the mountains and eventually in 2005 we found the perfect place in a perfect location

It was a run down old house and barn and need of some TLC

Needless to say we fell in love with it and created a beautiful luxury ski chalet

This was to become one of streams of income to support our retirement

We've had some ups and downs and twists and turns along the way but it was a good investment overall and will now give us the opportunity to invest in some new projects

The truth is that building multiple streams of income is no longer a luxury it has become a necessity. If the high rate of unemployment and mounting job losses have taught us anything it is that nobody's job is safe. Unfortunately for most people their only source of income is from their job which can be a risky way to live

And what's worse is that relying on a government pension alone wherever you live is not very likely going to give you the lifestyle you promised yourself while working 40 hours a week for 40 years (or more)

It's such an important subject especially right now as we find ourselves in the midst of the repercussions of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the knock on effects that supply of goods and services reliant on oil in particular is having on inflation...

Meaning the money we have saved (if we've been lucky enough to save anything) is not going to go as far as we thought

Frankly we could not have got through the two years of the pandemic without other streams of income since our ski chalet served mainly European guests and no one could travel due to Covid

So we will be forever banging on about the importance of having multiple streams of income
